Description
Delightful treats reminiscent of childhood, featuring a buttery cookie base, luscious caramel, and rich chocolate topping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 14 oz caramel candies
- 2 tablespoons milk (or a dairy-free alternative)
- 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool completely.
- Combine caramel candies and milk in a microwave-safe bowl, heating until smooth.
- Pour the melted caramel over the cooled cookie base and spread evenly.
- Melt the chocolate chips with vegetable oil, then pour over the caramel layer.
- Cool at room temperature for 15-20 minutes, then refrigerate until set before cutting into squares.
Notes
For a gluten-free option, use a 1:1 gluten-free baking blend. Use coconut oil instead of vegetable oil for a coconut flavor.
