  • Author: Mark Bennett
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Quick and delicious smash burgers cooked to crispy perfection right in your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 4 burger buns (preferably brioche)
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions (raw, grilled, or caramelized), mustard, ketchup

Instructions

  1. Start by taking your ground beef and gently dividing it into equal sections, about 2-3 ounces each.
  2. Preheat your skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  3. Place a ball of ground beef onto the hot skillet, and smash it down firmly until it’s about ½ inch thick. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Let the burger cook without moving it for about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Once juices are bubbling on the surface, flip the patty and add a slice of cheese on top.
  6. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until desired doneness is reached.
  7. Meanwhile, toast your burger buns in another pan until golden brown.
  8. Assemble your smash burger with the bun, patty, melted cheese, and your favorite toppings.

Notes

For healthier alternatives, consider lean ground turkey or plant-based burger options.
