Description
A classic seafood boil featuring shrimp, crab, and vibrant vegetables, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds of shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 pound of crabs, cleaned and prepped
- 1 pound of andouille sausage, sliced (substitute with turkey sausage for a leaner option)
- 4 medium potatoes, quartered
- 3 ears of corn, cut into thirds
- 1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning
- 1 lemon, halved
- 6 cloves of garlic, smashed
- 8 cups of water
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Optional: hot sauce for serving
Instructions
- Start by filling a large pot with the 8 cups of water. Bring it to a rolling boil over high heat and include the Old Bay seasoning, lemon halves, and smashed garlic.
- Once boiling, carefully add in the potatoes. Let them boil for about 10 minutes, or until they’re fork-tender.
- Next, toss in the sausage and corn. Allow these to cook for another 5 minutes.
- Finally, add the shrimp and crabs to the pot. Give them about 3–5 minutes to turn opaque and be fully cooked.
- When everything is cooked to perfection, carefully drain the contents of the pot and spread the seafood and veggies out on a large serving tray or sheet of newspaper. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top, and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
Notes
Presentation plays a key role; serve it on a large platter or directly on newspaper. Consider adding sides like salad or garlic bread.
