Decadent fudgy brownies with the classic red velvet flavor, featuring a luxurious cream cheese swirl and stunning crimson color perfect for any celebration

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour – 1 ½ cups
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder – 2 tablespoons
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon
  • Unsalted butter, melted – ½ cup
  • Granulated sugar – 1 ½ cups
  • Large eggs – 3
  • Vanilla extract – 2 teaspoons
  • Buttermilk – ¼ cup
  • Red food coloring – 1-2 tablespoons
  • White chocolate chips – 1 cup
  • Cream cheese, softened – 4 oz
  • Powdered sugar – ⅓ cup

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. 3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth and well incorporated.
  4. 4. Add eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. 5. Mix in buttermilk and red food coloring until the batter is uniformly colored.
  6. 6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  7. 7. Fold in white chocolate chips gently throughout the batter.
  8. 8. In a separate bowl, beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  9. 9. Pour brownie batter into prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  10. 10. Drop spoonfuls of cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter and use a knife to create swirl patterns.
  11. 11. Bake for 28-32 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  12. 12. Cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days. These brownies freeze well for up to 3 months when wrapped individually. For best results, use gel food coloring for more vibrant color. Serve at room temperature or slightly warmed with vanilla ice cream.
