- ¼ cup brown sugar, packed (for filling)
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon (for filling)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened (for filling)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (or a non-dairy milk alternative, for icing)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Pour in the milk and melted butter, then add the vanilla extract.
- Lightly flour your work surface, turn the dough out, and gently knead it until smooth.
- Roll it out into a rectangle, about ½ inch thick.
- Mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
- Spread the softened butter over the rolled dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
- Roll the dough tightly from one long end into a log.
- Slice it into 1-inch pieces.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for the icing until smooth.
- Remove the rolls from the oven and spoon the icing generously over the warm buns.
