Description
A hearty and comforting pulled beef sandwich, packed with flavor and easy to make.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 pounds of beef brisket or chuck roast
- 1 cup of beef broth
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup of barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon of chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Hamburger buns
- Optional toppings: coleslaw, pickles, sliced jalapeños, or sliced onions
Instructions
- Start by seasoning your beef generously with salt, pepper, and your choice of spices.
- In your slow cooker, combine the diced onion, minced garlic, beef broth, barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, chili powder, and cumin.
- Place the seasoned beef into the slow cooker, ensuring it is covered with the sauce.
- Cook the beef on low for 8-10 hours in a slow cooker or for about 3-4 hours in the oven until the meat is fork-tender.
- Once cooked, remove the beef from the cooker and let it rest for about 10-15 minutes. Shred the beef into bite-sized pieces, mixing it back into the sauce.
- Toast your hamburger buns lightly.
- Assemble your sandwiches by piling the pulled beef on the bun and adding optional toppings.
- Serve immediately, and enjoy your delicious creation!
Notes
For a healthier option, consider using leaner cuts of beef or chicken thighs, and a whole grain or gluten-free bun.
