  • Author: Mark Bennett
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A hearty one-pan meal combining crispy potato pierogies with smoky kielbasa sausage, caramelized onions, and savory seasonings for the ultimate comfort food experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (16 oz) frozen pierogies (potato and cheese)
  • 14 oz kielbasa sausage, sliced
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 medium bell pepper, sliced (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup sour cream for serving

Instructions

  1. 1. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced kielbasa and cook for 3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. 2. In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons butter and remaining olive oil. Add sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking for 8 minutes until softened and caramelized.
  3. 3. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. 4. Push vegetables to the sides of the pan and add frozen pierogies to the center. Drizzle with remaining butter and cook for 4 minutes without moving.
  5. 5. Flip pierogies and cook for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown on both sides.
  6. 6. Return kielbasa to the skillet, toss everything together, and cook for 2 minutes to combine flavors.
  7. 7. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve with sour cream.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat to maintain crispy texture. This dish freezes well for up to 3 months. Fresh pierogies can be used instead of frozen but will cook faster.
