Description

Transform humble cabbage into a flavorful dish with these oven roasted garlic cabbage steaks, drizzled with olive oil and infused with garlic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium-sized green cabbage (about 2–3 pounds)
  • 4–5 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil (extra virgin works best)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika (optional for a smoky kick)
  • Fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Carefully remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and cut it into approximately 1-inch thick slices.
  3. Place the cabbage steaks on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Mix the minced garlic, olive oil, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl to create a flavorful garlic oil.
  5. Brush the garlic oil generously over both sides of each cabbage steak.
  6. Roast the cabbage in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  7. Remove the steaks from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired before serving.

Notes

For a vegan twist, ensure your oil is plant-based. You can add red pepper flakes for extra heat.
