Description

A nostalgic dessert that celebrates the vibrant flavors of fresh fruits, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh fruit (like peaches, blueberries, or apples)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare your fruits by washing and slicing them. Toss with sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in your baking dish and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and spices. Slowly stir in the milk until just combined.
  4. Pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring.
  5. Spoon your fruit mixture over the batter, again, do not stir.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use frozen fruit if fresh isn’t available. For gluten-free, swap all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend.
