Description
A refreshing summer beverage made with sweet watermelon and tangy lime.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups seedless watermelon, cubed
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 3–4 limes)
- 2–3 tablespoons sugar or honey (adjust to taste)
- 2 cups water
- Ice cubes
- Lime slices and mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Start with the watermelon. Rinse it under cool water, then cut it into quarters. Remove the seeds if your watermelon isn’t seedless. Next, using a knife, carefully slice the flesh away from the rind. Chop the watermelon into cubes, and toss them into a blender.
- Blend the watermelon on high until it becomes a smooth puree. If you prefer a chunkier texture, you can blend it less. Once blended, strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to catch the pulp, leaving you with a smooth watermelon juice.
- Combine the watermelon juice with freshly squeezed lime juice, sugar or honey, and water in a large pitcher. Stir well until the sweetener is completely dissolved.
- Refrigerate the watermelon limeade for about 30 minutes to chill.
- Pour the limeade into glasses filled with ice. Garnish each glass with a slice of lime and a sprig of mint.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir before serving, as ingredients may settle.
