- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting on top
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges.
- Combine the sugar and eggs in a large mixing bowl and whisk until light and creamy.
- Add the vegetable oil and milk to the egg mixture, stirring continuously.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Pour the dry mix into the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
- Fold in the sliced apples and walnuts (if using).
- Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and pour the batter into it.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For healthier alternatives, use unsweetened applesauce instead of vegetable oil or swap granulated sugar with coconut sugar.
