Description
A simple yet flavorful recipe for succulent shrimp grilled with a sweet and savory honey-garlic glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium if preferred)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for spice)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Green onions, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by preparing the marinade. In a mixing bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, olive oil, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Whisk these ingredients together until they’re well-blended and the honey is fully dissolved.
- Place the cleaned shrimp into a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish, and pour the marinade over the top. Seal the bag or cover the dish, ensuring the shrimp are well-coated in the marinade. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Remove the shrimp from the marinade and thread them onto the skewers. Discard the leftover marinade.
- Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, flipping them once they’re pink and opaque.
- Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Serve your grilled shrimp warm, garnished with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
Notes
Marinating the shrimp for longer enhances their flavor; feel free to marinate for an hour or even overnight if possible.
