Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and gather a large mixing bowl. Add the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar, then blend until fluffy.
- Introduce the vanilla extract and salt, then gradually add the all-purpose flour. Mix at low speed until just combined; add food coloring if desired.
- Divide the dough into two equal parts, shape into discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Roll out one disc on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to create shapes and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes until lightly golden around the edges.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Decorate with icing, sprinkles, or edible glitter.
