Description
Juicy and flavorful grilled shrimp skewers marinated in zesty spices, perfect for summer gatherings or quick dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano or thyme (optional)
- Zest of 1 lemon (optional)
- Wooden or metal skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes prior)
Instructions
- Begin by preparing your marinade. In a bowl, mix together olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, pepper, and any optional herbs or zest you prefer.
- Toss the shrimp into the marinade, ensuring they’re thoroughly coated, and let them sit for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated shrimp onto your skewers, adding vegetables if desired.
- Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque.
- Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
- Serve hot with your choice of sides or garnish with fresh herbs.
Notes
For a sweeter twist, use honey or maple syrup in the marinade. For heat, consider adding cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes. Substitute shrimp for chicken or tofu for a vegetarian option.
