- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- 1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 60-90 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
- 2. Pour in heavy cream and milk, stirring to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- 3. Reduce heat to low. Add cream cheese cubes gradually, whisking until completely melted and smooth.
- 4. Add Parmesan cheese in three batches, stirring well after each addition until fully incorporated.
- 5. Stir in Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- 6. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until sauce reaches desired thickness, stirring frequently.
- 7. Remove from heat and serve immediately over pasta, chicken, or vegetables.
- 8. If sauce becomes too thick, thin with milk or reserved pasta water to desired consistency.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat gently over low heat with a splash of milk or cream. Can be frozen for up to 3 months. Use freshly grated Parmesan for best results.
