Description

A classic and comforting egg custard dessert that is rich, creamy, and easy to make, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • Optional: sprinkle of nutmeg or cinnamon for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until well combined.
  3. Add the milk slowly into the egg mixture while continuing to whisk.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  5. Sprinkle in a hint of nutmeg or cinnamon for an extra kick, then mix until just blended.
  6. Pour the mixture into a baking dish or individual ramekins.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool at room temperature before chilling it in the fridge for at least two hours.

Notes

For a lighter version, use low-fat milk and substitute sugar with natural sweeteners. You can prepare the custard ahead of time and refrigerate.
