Description
A delicious and simple dish featuring tender chicken in a savory creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth (low-sodium works best)
- 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (or cornstarch for a gluten-free option)
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat your olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season your chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Add the seasoned chicken breasts to the skillet. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and keep warm on a plate, covering it loosely with foil.
- In the same skillet, toss in your sliced onions and garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Sprinkle the flour over the onions and garlic, stirring continuously for about a minute.
- Gradually whisk in the chicken broth, scraping up any brown bits on the skillet.
- Pour in the heavy cream and stir until combined. Let the sauce simmer until it thickens.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top, and allow to simmer for 5 more minutes.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
For healthier alternatives, consider plant-based chicken, yogurt instead of cream, or gluten-free options.
