  • Author: Mark Bennett
  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Description

A simple and delicious peach cobbler made with canned peaches and a buttery, golden topping. Perfect for any occasion and ready in about an hour.

Ingredients

  • Canned peaches in syrup – 2 (29 oz) cans
  • All-purpose flour – 1 cup
  • Granulated sugar – 1 cup
  • Whole milk – 1 cup
  • Unsalted butter – ½ cup (1 stick)
  • Baking powder – 1 tablespoon
  • Salt – ¼ teaspoon
  • Ground cinnamon – ½ teaspoon
  • Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Place the butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and put it in the oven to melt while the oven preheats, about 5 minutes.
  2. 2. Drain the canned peaches, reserving about ½ cup of the syrup. Set aside.
  3. 3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon until well combined.
  4. 4. Add milk and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until smooth with no lumps remaining.
  5. 5. Remove the baking dish with melted butter from the oven. Pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring.
  6. 6. Spoon the drained peaches evenly over the batter, then pour the reserved syrup over the peaches. Do not stir.
  7. 7. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling. A toothpick inserted into the batter should come out clean.
  8. 8. Remove from oven and let cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Store leftover cobbler covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in a 300°F oven for 15 minutes or microwave individual portions for 30-45 seconds. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or Greek yogurt for best results.
