Easy Basil Aioli

  • Author: larsen
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and flavorful aioli made with fresh basil and garlic, perfect for sandwiches, dips, and drizzling over grilled dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves, packed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil (for drizzling)
  • Additional herbs like parsley or chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. Start by rinsing the basil leaves under cool water, then gently pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. Combine the mayonnaise, fresh basil leaves, minced garlic, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard in a food processor or blender.
  3. Blend the mixture until smooth, scraping down the sides to ensure everything is mixed well.
  4. Taste your aioli and add salt and pepper to preference. If too thick, drizzle in olive oil while blending to achieve desired consistency.
  5. Scoop the aioli into a bowl or airtight container, cover, and let it sit in the fridge for about 30 minutes.

Notes

For dairy-free, use vegan mayonnaise. For a garlic-free option, substitute with roasted red peppers.
