Description

A warm and comforting dessert featuring baked apples topped with a crunchy oat and flour mixture, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour for a GF version)
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted) or coconut oil for a dairy-free option
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Core and slice the apples, peeling them if desired.
  2. Toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and lemon juice in a large bowl. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt in another bowl. Mix everything until it forms a crumbly texture.
  4. Spread the crisp topping evenly over the apple mixture in the baking dish.
  5. Bake for about 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the apples bubble. Cover with foil for the first 15 minutes if needed.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a delicious treat.
