Description
A fun twist on traditional lasagna, fried to golden perfection in an air fryer, offering a crispy exterior and cheesy, saucy inside.
Ingredients
Scale
- 9 lasagna noodles (cooked and drained)
- 1 pound ground beef (or beef sausage)
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking spray or olive oil
- Optional: Fresh basil and parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by cooking the lasagna noodles according to the package’s instructions. Don’t forget to add a pinch of salt to the boiling water for flavor. Once they’re cooked, drain them and set them aside to cool.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it’s browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Add the marinara sauce and let it simmer for a few minutes to meld the flavors.
- In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until it’s smooth. This mixture will give your lasagna that creamy, rich texture.
- Now, it’s time to assemble! Lay out three lasagna noodles on a clean surface. Spread one-third of the ricotta mixture, followed by one-third of the meat sauce, and sprinkle one-third of the mozzarella on top.
- Repeat the layering process with two more sets of noodles, ricotta, meat sauce, and mozzarella.
- For the final layer, top with the remaining noodles, marinara sauce, mozzarella, and finish with Parmesan cheese for that golden-brown crust.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or brush with olive oil to prevent sticking. Carefully place the assembled lasagna into the basket without overcrowding.
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Once done, remove the lasagna from the air fryer and let it sit for 5 minutes before slicing. This will help it hold its shape.
Notes
For a lighter version, consider whole wheat noodles, low-fat cottage cheese, or ground turkey. Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the air fryer.
