  • Author: Mark Bennett
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Perfectly crispy oven baked sweet potato fries with a secret cornstarch coating that creates an irresistibly crunchy exterior and tender inside. Healthier than deep-fried and absolutely delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large sweet potatoes (about 2 pounds)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2. Scrub sweet potatoes thoroughly under cold water and pat dry. Cut into ½-inch thick planks, then cut planks into fry-shaped strips.
  3. 3. Place cut fries in a large bowl and pat completely dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  4. 4. Toss fries with cornstarch until evenly coated, ensuring each piece has a light dusting.
  5. 5. Drizzle olive oil over the cornstarch-coated fries and mix thoroughly to distribute evenly.
  6. 6. Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using) over the fries and toss to coat completely.
  7. 7. Arrange fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece for air circulation.
  8. 8. Bake for 15 minutes, then carefully flip each fry using a spatula and rotate the baking sheet 180 degrees.
  9. 9. Continue baking for an additional 12-15 minutes until fries are golden brown and crispy on the edges.
  10. 10. Remove from oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 400°F oven for 10 minutes to restore crispiness. Do not microwave as this makes them soggy. For best results, serve immediately after baking.
