  • Author: Mark Bennett
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and easy creamy peppercorn sauce that elevates any dish with a rich, velvety flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon cracked black peppercorns
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for a gluten-free option)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional: Fresh herbs like parsley or thyme for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat in a medium skillet.
  2. Add the cracked black peppercorns and sauté for about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Toss in the finely chopped shallot and cook until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream while stirring continuously and let it cook for about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Stir in the Dijon mustard and soy sauce, then season with salt to taste. Simmer for another minute until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh herbs if desired before serving.

Notes

For a healthier option, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream and reduce added fats by using cooking spray instead of butter and oil.
