  • Author: mark-bennett
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A refreshing drink perfect for summer, balancing sweet and tart flavors with cherries and tea.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 tea bags (black tea or green tea)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjustable)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin by bringing 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Rinse your cherries if using fresh ones, then pit and slice them in half.
  2. Once the water reaches a boil, remove it from heat and add in the tea bags. Let steep for about 5 minutes.
  3. After steeping, remove the tea bags and stir in the sugar while the tea is still warm.
  4. Next, add the pitted cherries and lemon juice to the tea. Stir well and let cool to room temperature.
  5. Once cooled, transfer the mixture to a pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  6. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled cherry iced tea over the ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Notes

For a caffeine-free version, use herbal tea bags. Adjust the sweetness by substituting sugar with honey or a sugar alternative.
