- 1 pound ground beef or chicken sausage (or turkey sausage for a leaner option)
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup diced bell peppers (green and red)
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni or turkey ham
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
- Cook the ground beef or chicken sausage in a skillet over medium heat until no longer pink, then drain excess fat.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, diced bell peppers, and sliced olives, and let it simmer for a few minutes.
- Open the cans of biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into quarters.
- Combine the biscuit pieces with the meat mixture and half of the mozzarella cheese in a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared casserole dish and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese and any extra toppings.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes, until the biscuits are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Let it sit for 5-10 minutes before serving and garnish with fresh basil if desired.
