  • Yield: 12 sliders 1x

Description

Tender, juicy shredded chicken smothered in tangy BBQ sauce and served on soft slider buns—perfect for parties, game days, or easy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1½ cups BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 12 slider buns
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 cup coleslaw (optional topping)
  • 12 pickle slices (optional topping)
  • ½ medium red onion, thinly sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1. Cook chicken breasts in a slow cooker on low for 6-8 hours, in an Instant Pot for 15 minutes, or bake at 375°F for 25-30 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  2. 2. Remove chicken and let rest for 5 minutes, then shred using two forks or a stand mixer with paddle attachment.
  3. 3. In a large bowl, combine BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and smoked paprika. Mix well.
  4. 4. Add shredded chicken to the sauce mixture and toss until evenly coated.
  5. 5. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. 6. Slice slider buns horizontally (keeping them connected) and place bottom half in the prepared baking dish.
  7. 7. Spread BBQ chicken mixture evenly over the bottom buns.
  8. 8. Add optional toppings like cheese, coleslaw, pickles, or red onion slices.
  9. 9. Place top buns over the filling.
  10. 10. Mix melted butter with garlic powder and onion powder, then brush over the top buns.
  11. 11. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  12. 12. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until tops are golden brown.
  13. 13. Slice between buns to separate individual sliders and serve warm.

Notes

Store assembled sliders wrapped in foil in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The chicken mixture can be frozen for up to 3 months. For best results, toast buns lightly before assembly to prevent sogginess. These sliders pair wonderfully with coleslaw, baked beans, or french fries.
