- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
- Add in the mashed bananas, egg, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Mix well.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
- Drop tablespoon-sized mounds of dough onto your prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
These cookies can be made healthier with substitutions, such as using coconut oil instead of butter or whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose. For a vegan version, use flaxseed meal as an egg substitute.
